13th International Conference on the Dialogical Self – Counting our contradictions

    25 Αυγούστου 2026 - 28 Αυγούστου 2026
    Λεπτομέρειες:

A proper use of contradictions widens our consciousness and opens our minds to alternative ideas, possibilities, and explanations
    (Hermans, Count your contradictions, 2024, p. 1)

At the 13th International Conference on the Dialogical Self we invite you to explore and express the differences, tensions and contradictions within and between us, so that through dialogue we can move forward the theory and practice of the Dialogical Self in open-ended and unexpected directions.

    Purpose

The purpose of the 13th International Conference on the Dialogical Self is to create a forum for dialogue across the boundaries of specific (sub)disciplines, and to explore the possibilities and challenges related to developing research and practice on the dialogical self.

The exploration of the dialogical self has a broad scope including such areas as literary science, brain research, empirical psychology, and psychotherapeutic practice. It brings together different fields of psychology, such as personality, developmental, social, political, cultural, educational, organizational, and clinical psychology. Increasingly, researchers use the theory to make meaning of the complexity of educational, coaching and counseling practices. Across these diverse fields, the concept of the dialogical self provides an interdisciplinary platform for innovative research, theory and practice.

The conference is open to contributions from psychologists, scholars of social sciences, linguistics, arts,  and practitioners who apply the dialogical self in their work.

    25 - 28 of August, 2026
